Questions & Answers Regarding LazyMan™ Soil Products
What is humic acid?
Humic acids are simply the decomposed remains of plants, animals, and marine life. The decomposed organic material resulted in leonardite formations or highly concentrated sources of humus. In a sense, humic acid is humus from Mother Nature’s own compost pile.

  1. Humic acids are valuable in soil regeneration, restoration, and in bioremediation.
  2. Humic acids destroy harsh chemicals introduced into the enviroment that are harmful to the soil and plants.
  3. In the soil, humic acids can increase the microbial and mycorrhizal activity while enhancing the nutrient uptake by plant roots.
  4. Humasol (contains both humic and fulvic acids) is the key to healthy plants and soil and it is organic, natural, water soluble, and contains high levels of both humic and fulvic acids.
Do you need to water after application?
Yes. Unless it is raining out while applying, irrigate the area for 15 minutes after applying the product.
Can you use tap water?
Yes. Although natural rainfall is always best for lawns and gardens, you can certainly use tap water to dilute the product with and water in afterwards.
What about sodium laden water?
If you have high sodium content in your soil (usually from your water source), it causes compaction, and it also reduces nutrient absorption by the plant. Sodium is positively charged, while clay is negatively charged, so the sodium smashes the clay together. LazyMan grabs onto the sodium and removes it to a lower level so that it's out of the way of the plant root zone. That is a benefit you will never get from mechanical aeration!

What is the pH of the products?
The pH of the Liquid Soil Aerator is 7.0 and the pH of the Liquid Soil conditioner is 7.2. Inferior humic acids products will actually have a pH of 8 - 12 which can actually be harmful to plants.
Why couldn't you just use gypsum?
Although gypsum has been shown to help compacted soil, it is a very slow process. It can take two to three years to notice significant improvement by using gypsum.
Why isn't the Liquid Soil Aerator & Conditioner one product?
The application rates for the two products are different and the Soil Conditioner works great as a follow up treatment to the Soil Aerator and it can also be used for compost tea, cutting dips, and as a foliar spray to increase stress and disease resistance in plants.
You mean I have to apply each product separately?
No. You can apply them both at the same time. Simply put the recommended amount of each product into a hose-end sprayer, backpack sprayer, or commercial sprayer and apply. For example, if you are covering 1,000 square feet, you would put 3 to 6 ounces of the Soil Aerator and 8 - 16 ounces of the Soil Conditioner into your sprayer and apply them both at the same time.
How often do you have to apply each product?
This depends on the starting point of your soil; however there are general guidelines. The Liquid Soil Aerator is a very large molecule product and doesn't break down easily. We recommend one initial application, followed by another application 6 weeks later. Depending on environmental factors, these initial treatments can last up to one year. The Liquid Soil Conditioner should be applied at the same time as the Liquid Soil Aerator and on a quarterly basis.
If sodium is "bound up" by the Liquid Soil Aerator, are other nutrients as well?
No. It tooks years of scientific research to accomplish this, but no nutrients are bound up by the use of these products and in fact they are putting nutrients into the soil.
What results can be expected if the soil is already pretty good?
LazyMan Liquid Soil Aerator & Conditioner were designed to be used on poor, compacted soils which need significant improvement; however, due to environmental factors there is no "perfect" soil and the use of these products is still going to be beneficial although not as dramatic.
Can fertilizer be mixed in when you apply?
Yes. Compatability tests are always recommended or use LazyMan 3-18-18 or 16-2-3 Liquid Fertilizers which are already compatible.
What test results do you have on your products?
Humic acids have been tested for dozens of years with literally thousands of different applications and the research is very well known. We have also had research done by Grass Roots Lawn Care which is one of the largest lawn care companies in the nation. Aggregation tests have also been done by the USDA as well as compaction tests by golf courses. Go to this link to view some of the research: Research Data.
What is the coverage per bottle?
You can cover up to 10,000 square feet with a quart size combo. We recommend the Liquid Soil Conditioner be applied at a more concentrated rate initially.
Do these products help with brown spots caused by dog urine?
Yes. If you read scientific articles on brown spots caused by dog urine you will find about the only two things you can do is to continually water the spots after urination and improve soil aeration. Improving soil aeration is the easiest thing you can do to help avoid those dog urine spots and the products will also help bind up the harmful salts that are found in the dog urine.
What are other LazyMan™ products?
LazyMan™ also carries 3-18-18 Liquid Fertilizer and 13-2-3 Liquid Fertilizer
What mycorrhizae are in the LazyMan™ Liquid Soil Aerator & Conditioner and what percentage of plants would benefit?
The Liquid Soil Aerator & Conditioner contain "broad spectrum" endo and ecto mycorrhizae which will benefit approximately 96% of all plants.
Are there any dangers with over applying?
No. These products are not like fertilizer where over applying can cause severe burning and even kill plants. These products are not "bioaccumulative" and will not build up in plants.
What is the shelf life of the products?
It is recommended the products be used within two years after purchase.
